Wood Law Firm, LLP
Our Philosophy & Principles
At Wood Law Firm LLP, our philosophy comes from the great Texas Ranger, Captain Bill McDonald who believed “No man in the wrong can stand against a fella in the right that keeps a’coming.”
We are founded on the principle of Isaiah 1:17, “learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”
Our personal injury attorneys in Amarillo represent individuals, children, and families who have worked hard, followed the rules, played fair, and sought the American dream, against large corporate interests and others that have caused harm through neglect, indifference, malice, and greed.
When a corporation places profits above the safety, health, and welfare of children, workers, and the public we believe that those corporations should be held accountable and punished. We do not represent large corporations, insurance companies, governmental entities, or large business concerns.
While we recognize that money can never fully compensate a person or family for injuries sustained in car accidents and losses caused by another, we believe that holding the responsible party accountable is the best way our society can compensate those harmed by wrongful acts.
We also believe that punitive damages are the best way to prevent corporations from placing profits above the safety, health, and welfare of children, workers, and the public.
Committed to Top-Quality Legal Representation
We believe that you deserve the most qualified representation available. For that reason, Channy applied and was accepted to Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College in Dubois, Wyoming. While there for three weeks, Channy received instruction and training from Mr. Spence, who is recognized as the Greatest Trial Lawyer of the Century, as well as many other great lawyers from across the country. Channy is a graduate of that program and implements Mr. Spence’s techniques in case preparation and trials. Channy has been Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1999 and Board Certified as a Civil Law Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy since 2004. Channy has been listed in the Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyer in Personal Injury and Civil Trial law since 2006. Channy has been selected for inclusion in Texas SuperLawyers continuously since 2006. This is a selection of the top 3% of attorneys in Texas.
We believe that the right to trial by jury, a right guaranteed by the 7th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, is the foundation of our democracy and our free society. We believe that a jury trial is the only place where any person, rich or poor, large or small, regardless of his or her station in life, can stand on equal footing against the largest, richest, most powerful multinational corporations. We recognize that the jury system is under attack from wealthy special interest groups who seek to avoid accountability to the public. We are committed to ensuring that this precious right is preserved for generations to come.
We offer free initial consultations. We will be happy to discuss our fee and expense arrangement with you when we meet.
Litigation Technology
Wood Law Firm, LLP is an aggressive user of litigation management and trial presentation technology. We pioneered the use of Summation and Trial Director in the Texas Panhandle, as well as RealTime transcription of depositions. We recently implemented TrialPad and AppleTV into our trial presentation arsenal. We have tried several cases using nothing but an iPad, a MacBook Pro, and a projector to present all exhibits, animations, and videotaped depositions to the jury. Our office utilizes Apple computers, iPads, and iPhones to efficiently manage our calendars, cases, and documents, and to communicate with our clients, the courts, and opposing lawyers. We also use cutting edge audiovisual equipment and computer animation. This cutting edge technology, together with our highly skilled staff, allows us to efficiently and effectively manage documents, testimony, and exhibits, and dramatically present your case to a jury.
How We Are Paid
At Wood Law Firm, LLP, we realize that the average person does not have the resources to pay an attorney on an hourly basis. For that reason, we offer contingent fee agreements. If we do not collect for you, we charge you no fee and we do not bill you for any expenses associated with pursuing your claim. If we do obtain a recovery for you, you pay us a percentage of the recovery, plus reimburse us for expenses.
All fee agreements are presented to you in writing. You may take the fee agreement home and read it, have it reviewed by another attorney of your choosing, and ask us any questions you would like. No fees are incurred until you understand and have signed the agreement.
