What Is Xarelto?
Xarelto is a novel oral anticoagulant. It is prescribed to:
- Reduce the risk of stroke in people with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AFib)
- Treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) and reduce the risk of recurrence
- Reduce the risk of DVT and PE after hip or knee replacement surgery
It works by reducing your blood’s ability to clot. Unlike warfarin, Xarelto does not carry dietary restrictions or require routine monitoring.
